AAWCS Administration

The AAWCS is an initiative of the Australian Meat Industry Council with support from the Australian Meat Processor Corporation, and is administered by AUS-MEAT.

 

What You Need to Know About Each Industry Body’s Role

AMIC

AMIC is responsible for managing the content of the Standards. The Standards were first developed in 2005 and are regularly reviewed.

AMPC

AMPC provide technical expertise in the area of animal welfare and has been generous in supporting the development of the AAWCS through financial assistance and expert advice. 

AUS-MEAT

AUS-MEAT’s role is to approve suitably qualified auditors for the program, administer an audit program to verify conformance with the Standards, and to maintain a register of participating establishments. AUS-MEAT also administers use of the AAWCS Trademark on behalf of Industry. AUS-MEAT will also institute corrective actions where breaches occur in accordance with the Rules.
